About CompTIA IT Fundamentals
(ITF+) Certification
For the new entrant into the IT field, ITF+ is the logical first step before A+ Certification. This is more of an awareness of foundational IT knowledge than an actual technology-driven certification. If you are new to IT, this certification will make it a lot easier to succeed at the A+ exam. The A+ exam gets under-estimated, mostly by people not realizing that over two exams, it addresses over 1,200 knowledge points of fairly detailed technical information. That’s were ITF+ comes in: It makes it more digestible for the candidate new to the field. Alternatively, it is a valuable certification for anyone in technology sales that needs a better understanding of the field and technology products in general. lt allows the non-technical professional to be more articulate and confident in the presentation and discussion of any technology-driven solution.
CompTIA recertification
CompTIA ITF+, A+, Network+ and Security+ certifications will be valid for three years from the date the candidate is certified. After the three years renewal will be required although there are a few ways around this. Instead of recertifying, you can earn CEUs and some other certifications, would you take them, can alleviate the need to recertify, for more on this, go to CompTIA. A huge exception to this policy are candidates who were certified prior to January 1, 2011. If you did, you are certified for life!
