Performance based questions

Here we demonstrate and explain performance based questions as they are seen on CompTIA exams. We are trying to dispel the myths and fears these questions generate.

Below links will take you to an explanation page for performance based questions as well as a video walkthrough.

Saving your work in performance based questions is not the same as saving an MCQ

The vast majority of questions on a CompTIA exam are MCQ. The way those are saved is just by clicking Next and going to the next question. This becomes routine at the exam and you do it without even thinking about it. This is fine. Until you get to one of the performance based questions. Now suddenly you are asked to also click Submit to save and record your response.  It’s not enough to just click Next as you do for the MCQs.

We are making a big deal of this here because we know of several cases where candidates at the exam lost their answers to a PBQ in this manner. We have added a Submit button in our Exam Simulators, not because our software requires one (we know how to code performance based questions so they are saved by just clicking on the Next button) but because this helps you develop a habit that will help you at the actual exam.
